Lew for iCloud: Apple Calendar and Contacts

Connect iCloud and Lew works with your Apple Calendar and Contacts: what’s on, when you’re free, adding or moving your own events, and finding someone’s number or email.

What Lew does

  • Reads your iCloud calendars, and adds, moves or cancels your own events.
  • Looks people up in your iCloud Contacts.
  • Leaves alone events with guests, events someone else organized, and calendars shared with you.

How to connect

  1. 1At account.apple.com, open Sign-In and Security → App-Specific Passwords and create one for AskLew.
  2. 2In AskLew, open Settings → Connections → iCloud and paste it with your Apple ID email.
  3. 3Ask Lew about your schedule.

What Lew can access

  • Apple has no other way for apps to reach iCloud Calendar and Contacts. The app-specific password is checked with iCloud, then stored encrypted.
  • It can’t be used to change your Apple ID, and you can revoke it at account.apple.com at any time.
  • Lew doesn’t read your iCloud Mail. Apple Reminders and Notes aren’t available to apps this way.
  • Repeating events are read-only to Lew for now.
